Option 1 -Sultanate Delhi. The 1st City of Delhi lies in the Mehrauli area. In this walk we explore the Qutb Minar complex to unearth layers of history buried in the ruins. In Mehrauli the walk takes you through the flower market and is followed by a South Indian lunch. Half day tour (4 to 6 hours)

Option 2 – Mughal Delhi. The 7th City of Delhi was Shahjahnabad. In the capital of the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, we explore the Red Fort and walk the narrow alleys of Chandni Chowk to see and visit old ‘havelis’. The climax of the walk is sampling street foods and enjoying an authentic vegetarian old-Delhi lunch. Full day tour (4-6 hours)

Option 3 –Spiritual tour. Chandni Chowk to Majnu ka Tila– a full day tour that is offered in conjunction with the Mughal Delhi tour. We unravel the mysticism in our religious cultures, the essence of India. We experience and get a glimpse of Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism, Islam & Buddhism by visiting temples – no guide books talks about this. After experiencing the do & don’ts of different religious aspects you be at ease and feel welcome at these strange sites. Delhi is a fascinating but baffling city for newcomers and even for those that live there. Everywhere there are monuments in various states of repair. One is told there were Seven Cities of Delhi but what were they and how do they fit together? To peel back the layers of history and to appreciate the rich heritage of this extraordinary city Surekha is an inspired guide. She is a “Dilli Walla” from an old-established Delhi family and loves her city with a passion. She reads voraciously on the subjects and researches extensively and then does everything she can to bring Delhi’s story to life. Her contacts are legendary and she can get her groups into places they would never be able to reach otherwise. I have been on many of her walks. Whether it’s street foods in Chandni Chowk, birds in Lodhi garden, butterflies in Garden of Five Senses or the Dargah of Nizamuddin, I can say that Surekha is a brilliant guide. More in Trip Advisor, Catriona Child, Travel writer in Delhi.
