We pay homage to the Father of our Nation, by visiting lesser known sites associated with Gandhiji in Delhi. Such walk initiatives form part of the repertoire of Delhi Metro Walks.

Walk Details: Date: Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, Time- 7.30 am to 2 pm.  A bus has been arranged to cover the following walk agenda:

a) 8-10 am, Kingsway camp. Here we visit the Coronation Park, a site of the Delhi Durbars, not associated with Gandhiji but forms part of the 1911 Heritage walk of British Colonial Delhi and Harijan Sewak Sangh, Kingsway camp that still follows the ideology of Bapu.

b) 10-10.30 am at Gandhi Bhawan a talk on Gandhiji’s association with the colleges of Delhi University.

c) 10.30-11.30
 we participate in a function organized by Gandhi Bhawan comprising of  a musical tribute to Gandhiji, prayer by children, sharing of experiences of Gandhi Darshan Yatra by one of the participants, thoughts on Gandhiji by students, silence for one minute at 11.00 a.m

d) 12.00 -1.30 we visit National Gandhi Museum for a guided tour comprising of  Gandhiji’s personal belongings, photo archives, charkha gallery, try your hands at the Charkha in Hriday Kunj etc. and we see a wonderful bookshop on Bapu.

Please note that we will not be visiting the Rajghat, Gandhi Smriti & Darshan museums but will form part our discussions. Carry your own breakfast and snacks,  to be eaten on the bus.

Bus charges: To cover the cost of the bus, charges for adults Rs 200/- and children Rs 100. The walk will take place with a minimum of 20-25 people. Payments on the bus to Surekha.

Meeting point on registration.  
To register contact Surekha by Thursday, Jan. 28th on surekhan@hotmail.com or 9811330098 along with number of persons joining the walk. On receiving a confirmation by at least 20 people, final instructions and meeting point will be sent. There will be 2 meeting points, one in Central Delhi and one close to Delhi University to board the bus.
